Hot Pink

August 9, 2011

I need some light-heartedness after that last post, so I’m turning to hot pink.  I’ve been in love with it for a while.  And what better color to get me out of a funk?  Unlike your average pink, it unexpectedly feels hard and edgy to me, instead of girly and bubble-gummy.  Perfect.

This reminds me, way, way back in the day, I had these fabulous Pumas with hot pink soles. They were so cool. They went with my spikey bleach blonde hair. Natch.

Bite.

August 8, 2011

Our dog bit another dog last week.  Our beautiful, calm, sweet dog in an instant ripped a part of another dog’s ear off.  Every time I think about it, I want to throw up.

It was an awful experience, but you would not believe how kindly the humans involved treated each other.  I was beyond impressed by the other dog owner’s caring and empathic demeanor  in the face of such violence.  I hope I would have reacted the same, were the situation reversed.  All in all, the best possible outcome, considering: humans who were able to take care of the situation, and the injured pup healing–with stitches.

But still, I am shaken and upset.

Luna is teaching me about loving the whole of a being. Not just the sparkly, happy bits, but the darker, muddier parts that can be scary and need some work.

We’re on ‘Oh My! Handmade Goodness!’

August 1, 2011

Jessika asked me to contribute a bit about our wedding to ‘Oh My! Handmade Goodness!‘ to finish up their month of ‘Celebrations’ posts.  You can read a bunch (um, it was hard to stop me once I got going,) about our wedding and decorations, and how we aimed to make the whole day kid-friendly.

Really, most of the tips and ideas could work for any kind of party.  So if you have a shindig coming up, go check it out, as well as all the other posts from July.

It was so much fun to write.  As always, thanks for having me OMHG!
